Science Slam 2015

Published: 5 June 2015

The Graduate School’s third annual Science Slam takes place on Thursday 2nd July at 7pm, Cottiers, Hyndland. Previous winners are Lewis MacKenzie and Richard Middlemiss, both from Physics and Astronomy.

Glasses photo All are welcome to attend to see our eight talented PhD students present their research in the atmospheric Cottiers Theatre.

The event is hosted by Sian Bevan, now also known as The Science Slam Host, since we have had no other (and nor would we want another anyway). Sian is funny, calm, and doesn’t mind when things break.

The event has been called: ‘the best public engagement event I have attended’ and it is worth attending just to see our academics let their hair down and get their Science Slam glassesTM on!

This year, the following students will be presenting:

Helmi Kreinin, Sean O’Byrne and James Ward Taylor from the School of Chemistry, Sapphire Wanmer from the School of Geographical and Earth Sciences, Jumai Abioye and Kleanthis Erotokritou from the School of Engineering, and Bipasha Chakraborty and Jennifer Wright from the School of Physics and Astronomy.

They will be talking about volcanoes, light in its different guises, Glaswegians, particle physics, malaria and much more!
